Review of Orient "Tangle" EZAB4W0
« on: May 01, 2010, 01:32:05 PM »
Although  English is not my native tongue, I'll try to write a review of my newly  acquired Orient watch.

I bought it  03/2010 via the Internet from a german dealer. Most of all I was attracted by  its shape, plus I was looking for  a  watch with a white or silver dial. I wanted it to be different from my black  Seiko 5, and this one is indeed different in shape and colour.

The facts:

Brand:  Orient

Model  number: EZAB4W0

Official  model name: Tangle

Movement:  Orient Automatic Movement  46J(EZ), 23  jewels

Face:

This watch  has a silver dial with single baton index markers (except for the 12) and a  textured surface. There are 3 sub-dials for seconds (6), date (9) and  power-reserve (12) with radial -patterned texture, setting off a slightly  “holographic” effect. The hands are made of chromed metal, deteriorating  readability somewhat, but not overly so. No lume, neither on the dials nor on  the hands. In order to read off the date, you have to have 20/20 vision or a  good magnifying glass

Case:

The shape  of this all stainless steel watch is what the French call a “tonneau”. The  dimensions are 46mm lug to lug, 36mm wide and 10mm thick with 18mm lug width.  Quite big, but because of its oblong shape it hardly shows. The snap-in case back  is also stainless steel with - alas - no window. It is rated to 50 meters, so  it should stay away from greater amounts of water. The very handy crown is at  the 3 position and not screwed-down.

Crystal:

Slightly  dome-shaped Hardlex-crystal that provides a minimal magnifying glass effect.

Bracelet:

Solid  stainless-steel bracelet composed of polished and brushed elements. Unfortunately  it is too small for my arm (20,5cm equ. 8in), so I had to order an additional  element. Double butterfly with push-buttons.

Special  features:

Power  reserve indicator, sub seconds, date on sub-dial, quick-set date, automatic  movement.

Opinions/recommendations:

I like this  watch very much. It has a very solid feeling about it, weighing 140g (5oz). Its  accuracy of  +5 sec./day is  extraordinary for a mechanical movement. Suits all kinds of  outfit, looks all but ordinary.

Thank you for your attention.

Kind regards

Seikovnik

Thank you seikovnik for your review. Your English is great. Enjoy your Tangle!
