Eeeep! Ultra-steampunk!

Why has the deployant got a crank handle? And another at the upper right of the watch itself?  And... bloody hell, fusee chains!!!  No one in the right mind would use fusee chains these days unless they had to. The designer of this didn't have to, ergo he's apparently not in his right mind.

Easy to read too, isn't it?  And I love the way it just slips inconspicuously under your shirt cuff.

To be honest, I love steampunk design. It's fascinating to look at but it is really bloody impractical. There's a good article on Steampunk watches here:

http://pingmag.jp/2008/09/26/haruo-suekichi-the-steampunk-watchmaker/

The maker is Japanese too, so I think I may throw that link up in the main forum area for a wider discussion..

Proud to endorse ACG custom basses.

Look Seiko...  Give me an endorsement (with free watches) and I'll mention you on all the bass forums too.

The one pictured above looks positively conservative next to Suekichi's.

They are real and they are ( or were ) available.  The company is Cabestan and their URL is below.  BTW, they are super expensive and only sold in European and Asian boutiques.  They came out in 2007.  Retail pricing at the time was from $275k to over $400k.  They made 4 watches per month, each by hand.  I do not know if they are still manufdacturing them or not.

I had a dream last week and I swear that thing was chasing me trying to eat me.

This is indeed a Cabestan called the Dual Tow. Also they are about a quarter mill each but this is a group of watchmakers trying to push the boundaries of Horology. This is one of their latest innovations for Ferrari

I think these are fascinating but impractical. If I had $300k laying around I wouldn't hesitate. Even non-WIS would notice and I'd finally be popular.
If I were an octopus I would need fewer watch boxes.
