Seiko Bell-Matic-HELP!
« on: July 22, 2011, 07:32:29 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I am in need of help with my vintage Bell-Matic. I have just recently serviced this incredible time piece-It took me a while, and I am not a qualified watchmaker but had a good crack at it and got it to run, everything works, the Bell-Matic alarm and outer setting ring calibrated along with the day-date, but sadly the movement isn't running very well, the balance is abersoluelty perfect and the same with the hairspring but even still the balance will only oscillate to about 180 degrees and I know that it should run a lot faster than that. Any solution, or is that the usual frequency at which the watch runs at?

Thanks very much,
Jacob.

Hello!

When restoring my 4006-6070 i encountered similar problem. Im not 100% sure about this but i encountered the same phenoena on several different 4006 movement, both 17J and 27J
It seems that the trainbridge pushes a bit much on the second or third wheel making it to slow the watch down, i tried parts and bridges from 7 different movement before i found a setup that work. My theori is that the bridge gets a bit bent when you remove it, because if i loose one of the three screws it runs perfect. Still odd

Good luck with your 4006

Cheers
