"Unique" Bell-matic of the week" thread
« on: July 05, 2011, 12:56:37 AM »
Saw the watch displayed below and thought this was a great time to suggest an occasional thread about the foul balls, sticky wickets,  missed putts, wicked pitches, and off-sides in the world of Bell-mania.
Here are the simple guidelines if/when you care to participate:
  • You must share a photo of the watch (there are numerous ways to do screen captures if IMG URL is not available)
  • No links to an active auction or For Sale - try and save the photo to your computer, then upload to the forum so it does not "disappear"
  • Nothing in the photo or linked to it reveals an auction or sales site or the watch's location
  • One sentence conveying your sentiments about the photo
Simply put, this is a "Well, what'll they do next?" thread.

"Here, I found a crystal that fits! And look how it compliments that beautiful yellow dial."

Never seen this model before ? :)

I have been in Deepshit many times; the older I get, the easier it is  to get there. I actually kind of enjoy it there :)

I wish I saw this before posting earlier about the psychedelic superluminova watches. How about this one? Not too bad, but the modified dial and hands make it eligible for this category.  ::)

Unique blend of 4006-6011 case with -603x dial and alarm bezel. But the hands... they truly make the watch "happen."

Lol, Vanman strikes again and his wonderfully priced items. He has another 27J listed that is in parts, in a small tin for I believe also $199. I dont know how I resist...

Nice one John. I was wondering about that bezel. Pretty good color match though!  :D

eb$y listing for this Belle (4006-7010 caseback, 7 digit serial#) says "DIAL IS GREEN ON THE OUTSIDE FADING TOWARDS THE CENTRE."  My memory is probably bad, but I do not recall a green dial. A coppery dial that has green elements. But not "green." Opinions?

I put a Coke on it being a replacement dial from a Canadian seller on the bay.

... a recently concluded auction in which this "King SEIKO Bell-matic" brought in $395 -- now, please remember, just because a vintage SEIKO may have been assembled from different watches does not mean it is bad or that the buyer should feel remorse.  If you like it and it is worth the price you paid, good for you!  But, in the spirit of sharing some knowledge (and please feel free to weigh-in with your own thoughts)...
I don't like the hands. I don't recall ever seeing a 4006-601x with a 27J movement, and I do not think the case is correct for the caseback.  So, let us assume the caseback did not come with this watch and the hands are "iffy" -- still an attractive Belle, but for close to $400 I would want something 100% original and darn near NOS.
 ;)

I passed by that one more than a few times. What made the seller call it a King Seiko? If I remember right the watch was being sold out of Japan?
