After wearing a Kinetic (SKJ003) for the past ten years I've finally decided to get an automatic and my quest for a SKX399 began. The SKX399 is the lost sister of the SKX007/173 with raised chromed indices.
A fellow SCWF member, jkchua from the Philippines, helped me out immensely in sourcing this rare beauty. He is a very kind and honest sir! Thank you John, you're the best!
So a two weeks later, I picked up a package at the post.

A side by side comparison to my SKJ003:

I'm really not a rubber guy, but I was surprised on how good this watch looks on a black rubber strap! Somehow the black/silvery-white combination suits it very well.
However, I've immediately tried it on a wjean28's super oyster II:

Since I'm a diving instructor, I really fancy a watch I can take diving. But using a thick wetsuit in the summer and a drysuit in the spring or autumn means one needs a proper diving extension. Marinemaster clasp comes in handy:

I'm really pleased with the result. All she needs is a domed sapphire and I can't decide which one. Yobokies domed sapphire (has bigger gap between the crystal and the bezel. I also haven't seen any nice curvature picture) or Noahs super dome conversion kit (has a sloped bezel insert, which matches the curvature of the crystal. But the insert has a thicker font).
Or perhaps even a flat sapphire. Any thoughts?
Now the only problem is, this turned out to pretty for a watch to take diving! . I'm going to have to find another one that I wont feel devastated, if I bang some rocks with it at 40m below surface.
P.S.: I'm already looking at some Di-Modell Chronissimo straps, to restore that black-white balance.
Thanks SCWF!
