a 7548 movement runs for two day, keeps excellent time! But then stops:undecided:
serviced recently due to the same problem...
What can be the problem?? any advice guys?
Thanks
It could be a problem with day or date change - if it runs OK during the day, then at midnight when the change over occurs if something is jamming or not operating smoothly, it stops. Another possible cause of intermittent stopping is the hands fouling each other, or the dial, or the crystal. Finally when servicing I'd look carefully for wear to the drive train wheel and the jewels and bushes, as this can lead to the movement jamming, but in this case, once jammed it probably won't start again. How do you get it going again after it stops? I'd also consider swapping the circuit block to eliminate this as possible cause. Unfortunately, unless it's something obvious , like the date change or wonky hands, then it's a slow process of testing the watch in various stages of dis-assembly until the cause is found.
At the time it was jammed it was just after changing day/date... at 2 o'clock after midnight. As John said it is strange it happened not within a 24 hrs cycle... but as Sam suggested still it suspect at the day/date whiles...
Thanks
Thats interesting... I never thought to check that
Thanks Merrit I"ll take it as my next step.
