Yeh it will be good to see pictures of these. And I imagine it won't be long to wait Jon. Any idea when you think you'll have yours?

The AD says he has no idea but the manager of the Seiko Boutique said they get about a 3 week jump.

BUT - my "spare" 62MAS Re-Issue rubber strap is due in tomorrow !!!!!!!
Something to whet my appetite I guess.

That is a great idea, ordering an extra strap, may I ask where you ordered that from?

Jim was quite excited about them when I visited the boutique in March after the announcement. I wonder how many units they are getting in their allocation.

Mr. Trashpanda6459, the list price is well known at $3400 USD in the USA and upwards of €3800 in other countries, seems to vary a tad by region.

Any Seiko authorized dealer can try to order one and you are on your own to negotiate. Some will, some won't, some more aggressively than others.

Rolex is the same way. I would say if you can get the AD to knock off 20% you would have done very well. Then there is the 'ship out of state to save the sales tax' or 'ship and mark the package for low VAT' games that people play but that is dangerous territory and I say if you can't do the deal fair and square don't do it.

What will be curious is if, due to the high initial price point, these things hold their value. I can see them going up in value over time since they are a 2,000 pc limited edition, but truthfully I can also see them going down since the value in terms of the the list price vs the cost to manufacture this price is not really justifiable. The collecting world can be fickle !

How about a vintage 62MAS on the new SLA017 rubber strap to keep me going for the next few weeks?

Any Seiko dealer can order this, while supplies last I suppose.

I just happened to get the idea a LONG time ago.

Jon, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of dealers buying them up and subsequently a large price hike on them, but your theory of the long term makes sense. I don't think it will drop, though. I do wonder if we will start seeing some of those 62mas people sit on start hitting the bay.

Pleased for you and I can hear the excitement, like a big kid!

That price is crazy high...their re-imagination of the 62mas is also over priced but, fortunately, still in the ball park.

Is it going to be possible to officially buy one in the UK or EU (while we are still members). If so who would be the seller.

Thank you Grammer. I have seen 3400 US dollars and the limited edition should retain value.

According to Seiko UK, C W Sellors (Jura Watches) have consumed all the re-issue 63MAS destined for UK sales. They instructed me to contact them should I wish to pr-order one...or two...or three etc.

As I have been outbid on the original currently listed on the bay, I am now thinking either a NEW MM300 or SLA017J1. Hey I wanted a retirement watch which has yet to be decided upon. It wil of course require me to sell a few items (not watch related) first which I know will sell fairly easily and quickly.

Imo I find the asking price of 4k to quite extreme...but then again those that can afford it and want to buy it, more power to 'em.

There is a NOS 62MAS on the auction sites for half that give or take, even then I think quite a bit too much.
But again if someone is willing to pay these amounts then that's what they're worth.

I agree.

I also think it makes a 2k nice condition original look 'cheap'. The originals are far nicer looking. The new one kind of reminds me of the replica 62MAS dials.

I would say I was disappointed they changed the dial marker shape and didn't use an applied Seiko logo but as I own an original, I'm kind of glad they didn't. As soon as I saw the real pics of the new 62MAS I bought an old one as to me (and I'm sure a lot of others) the old one suddenly became even more attractive.

The new one seems like insane money for what it is, but in a way I'm glad it is. The huge price can only boost the original 62MAS values IMO

I'd have almost got the price if they'd used the same dial markers and logo but put a nicer movement in.

Let's face it if it didn't say 62MAS everyone would be up in arms at 3900!

The original earned it's current value by being a great form and very visually appealing to a lot of people of many decades and being the original diver. There's something about the original that just speaks to me.

You can't force that value IMO.

If I saw a NOS 62MAS at 1800 I think I and MANY others would buy it.
