Battery, I stated a long while back I would just let it run until the 2 sec skip shows up I know it's been a topic on here about leaking batteries, I've had battery operated watches since I was a lad never had a problem.
Pretty sure it would have a Seiko battery installed at
the factory if it's never been opened?
Seems like it's well worth taking the trouble
to get OEM replacements with that kind of
battery life!
Anyone know why it's not possible to produce
a leak-proof cell - or is it a question of cost of manufacture?
Well it's been a while, time for a resurrection of an old post, for some reason today I decided to change the battery on my Tuna 7C46-7011 dates to April 2007 and still on the original 13 year old battery.
There was no sign of the second hand skipping so assume the voltage was still good.
Case back was a swine to undo but we got there in the end, watch is still very clean inside, it's done many a trip abroad salt water etc.
I'll add some pictures later showing the voltage of the battery on a multimeter, there was no sign of any leakage on the battery, but you will see on the picture, white crystals were starting to form at the base of the battery, there was only 0.4 V different between the new and the old battery.
Could anyone provide a link to where I can purchase a new case back gasket, looked on flea bay but no joy matching the model numbers, plus all I found were aftermarket types.
Aloha ,
I collect Aqualand C-Series watch's and from the
Very First one I got it was a....
Leaked RENATA in it. Since then
I have only used.....Energizer Batteries in every watch
I have and never got a bad result since then.
Those Crystals on .... The Battery signal all these
....Type's are .... Notorious to use.
My Choice in .... RENATA .. is ... A Very Unsatisfactory
One ..... .....for use.
With over ....90 Watch's and + ,
" I'll Swear by ...The Rascal Rabbit Any Time.. ".
When I joined here in 2012 I got this
....... Perpetual Calendar Watch ....2 weeks later
and till today ..... 2020 it is still running great.

Impressive, Even more so when mine came with a card warning that the first battery was only a test battery from Seiko and not to expect the full life of the battery. Mine is now 4 years old on its original cell.
I would say looking at the pic that the white crystals are evidence of battery leakage, nick of time, IMO
