Orient Mako USA Question

Hi all! I'm an automatic watch noob looking for an inexpensive "beater" to wear daily while I save up for something a little fancier in the future. With the pre-order price of $159 US over at Long Island Watches, it doesn't look like much in the field can beat the Mako USA for features and nice details. Two questions though:

1) Do people find the dual crown on the USA pokes into their hands at all when flexing their wrists? I originally wanted to go SKX007 because I liked the 4 o'clock placement of the crown, but I feel like I could live with the 2 o'clock/3 o'clock crown placement if it isn't uncomfortable.

2) I'm a little worried about case size. My only other watch right now has a 44mm case and I find it looks proportional to my wrist and arm (I'm relatively large guy). 41.5 doesn't look tiny to me, but I am wondering if the Mako XL might no the better buy for looks, even though it lacks the fancy finishing touches like a SEL and sapphire crystal. Any larger dudes rocking the USA, and if so, how do you like it size wise?

Thanks in advance for your input, these forums have been a terrific resource for a wannabe watch guy like myself. :)

Not to talk you out of either watches new, but if you're truly looking for a beater, why not buy a used SKX? I'd think you could get one on the sales forum for less than a new Mako while you save for something more expensive. I personally prefer the 4:00 crown for the reasons you've cited. If you think a new SKX is too much money, a quick browse on WatchRecon.com came up with this on WUS (not my ad) for $115.
